We're not going to list everywhere that's good for vegan food in Manchester, as there are many places, and there are websites produced by groups such as Manchester Vegetarian and Vegan Group, and Manchester Vegan Society who have already done this. (See links page).

However, for your interest, we should mention that our favourite places in Manchester for satisfying and good-value vegan food are:

Mod Pop Cafe, Oldham St, (Piccadilly end). Retro greasy-spoon quality nosh, and practically everything has a vegan option. Open 11-6 every day. Expect to pay around £4-8

Earth Cafe , Turner St. A cafe in the basement of the Buddhist Centre that's all-vegan apart from a cow milk option in hot drinks. Healthy main meals, salads, juices, and big, unhealthy cakes! Open Tue - Sat 10am - 7pm (closes 5pm Sat) Expect to pay around £5-12

Ning Restaurant , Oldham St (Gt Ancoats St end). This is an excellent value Malaysian restaurant with friendly staff who know how to keep vegans happy! There are about 4 vegan starters, and at least 5 main course options, all clearly marked on the menu. The Mon-Thurs early evening £10 deal is a must! Open 6pm - til late.

Tampopo, several branches in both city centre and Trafford centre. A Japanese/Chinese/Vietnamese crossover fast-food noodle bar that's a bit like Wagamama, only there are more vegan options. Expect to pay about £10-15. Open noon til late.

Barburrito , Piccadilly Gardens. Wraps containing black beans or pinto beans, salsa, salad, guacamole, fried peppers and more cost around £5. Beers and soft drinks. Open noon - 7pm.

Unicorn Grocery , Chorlton (in suburbs). An all-vegan, pretty much all organic wholefood supermarket! Open Tues - Sat 10am - 7pm, Sun 11am - 5pm.

8th Day Co-op, Oxford Road (Nr main university buildings). A well-stocked shop on the ground floor and a very big cafe underneath. Can be a bit hit and miss. When the food is good, it's very good. The curries and stews are a good bet, and with rice cost about £5. Hot drinks, smoothies, wine by the glass, and bottled beers. Open til about 7pm (this might soon change). Closed Sun.

There used to be a cheap all-vegan cafe in an anarchist resource centre called 'The Basement' near Piccadilly. This closed down due to a fire in the next building. If it re-opens, we'll list it here.
